Ralph Sommer, decoration, setup, production

1955 – 

Ralph Sommer studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Cologne, completing his studies in 1986. He is also one of the founding members of Pentagon Gruppe in 1985.

His main creations include the Schreibtisch desk (1988), made of metal, felt, and transparent plastic, featuring a built-in reading lamp with a switch; the coat racks Große Garderobe (1988) and Strummer Diener (1989); and the Bodenschale bowl (1989).

For the Café Casino at Documenta 8 in Kassel, he designed one of the counter table Stehtisch für das Café Casino (1987).
At Art Frankfurt, he created the significant Schale bowl (1989) and the Steinstehtisch counter table (1989), resembling a genuine stone meteorite, traversed by a glass top.
